I just bought this CD for $1.25 and was VERY excited. I was very disappointed with most of the tracks however. Turns out these are productions from 1995 . Nowhere near as good as the classic Black Slate albums. The sound is much too funky and modern. Not a bad album but nowhere near the old stuff. Keith Drummond and Ras Elroy Bailey are the only old members present (KE=Keith and Elroy). There are a few decent tracks but most are nothing special.

Hi Chris,

I represent Fairwood Music (UK) who released the Black Slate album "Get Up and Dance" (1995) that you've been talking about on this forum. We'd like to send you a complimentary copy of this album for free if you're interested by way of saying thanks for keeping the songs alive.

Please get back to me at the email address provided and I'll happily get a copy off in the post to you once we have your details.

All the best,

Kiern.

Nice to read the info about Black Slate, one of I favourite UK Roots groups from late 70's/early 80's.

Later releases I checked: No Justice For The Poor (Sierra Records 12inch, 1985) and an album by Red Cloud with lead vocals by Keith drummond (Red Stripe CD, 1989).

I love the older recordings.

Hello Keirn
Is there any chance you will be releasing any early Black Slate recordings esp the Ogima Dub set?

thanks
