I'm pretty damn - sorry - gosh darn selective when it comes to country and blues:

Country = Johnny Cash

Blues = Howlin' Wolf

I like a little bit here and there of other artists in either genre but I can listen to a lot of Cash and Wolf. Sonically just the best of them all in those areas of music. Though I must admit I'm a casual listener. Dis ya reggae ave mi entrall...

When you play Kraftwerk backwards the champagne sipping model you were hoping to get a shag off, in the sleeper car of the highspeed train you were riding (on a bicycle) in Europe have all disappeared and you find yourself in a dark cave.
And you are no longer a robot.

Contrived? Ja!

Incredibly Hubert Sumlin played at a tiny venue called Spitz in Spitalfield Market relatively recently. We are not worthy, we are not worthy, we are not........!! :D

Hunert Sumlin is still alive?
Wow!
Did you see the gig?
The Wolf himself was a pretty awesome guitar player (as well as everything else)

Yes, he is and still touring!! Check out tour news - http://www.hubertsumlinblues.com/news.html

I did go to the gig and it was his birthday that day!! I think it was his 75th. The band was Elliot Sharp's and he did most of the *work*. Hubert was seated throughout the gig and did look very fragile.

Wonderful to see him though as the stage was very low (about 2ft high) and I was standing about 3 feet from him with a big *stoopid* grin on my face. :D

This last year I've been listening to jazz more than ever, I love specially all the Spiritual Jazz, post-Coltrane records...There are many, but some may be...

Pharoah Sanders, all his records for Impulse! are essential

Alice Coltrane, her work for Impulse is also necessary!!

Henry Franklin - "The Skipper" and "The Skipper at Home" with the great label Black Jazz

Juju - A Message From Mozambique from another essential label Strata East

Jaine Cortez - Celebrations and Solitudes, another Strata East release, great work form this conscious poetess married to Ornette Coleman

Funnily enough I currently have all of his Impulse albums on constant rotation.

Just about to order "A Message From Mozambique". I do like the look of that. Thanks for the heads-up.:)
