Many years ago (about '81) when I first left home I fell on my feet when I landed a room in a shared house. One of the guys there was a DJ and he was on a load of promo mailing lists. I used to buy all his Greensleeves albums for £2 each... all brand new.
Anyway - I got the 12" of Gunman from him too.
Back in the 90s I sold my copy to DJ Sinner who was after it bad at the time.
He traded me a bunch of good stuff for it - which I still possess (amongst some LPs and 12"s - the Johnny Clarke Can't Get Enough album which is quite hard to find these days - cheers Sinner!)
A bit later I got another copy of Gunman from the shortest-lived reggae shop in the world (lasted for about a week in St James' St Brighton before it shut).
I also have the Volcano 7" of Gunman which is a different version.
In the early 80s I got a copy of Know The Right in an HMV sale in Manchester. It was heavily 'dished' so bad you could keep fruit in it... but it plays ok. Good album.
The Love & Unity repress 12" was nice to get a while back.
Finally - I have two Yabby You Meets Michael Prophet dub albums.. which are good but there's not a lot of vocals on them (from memory, not listened for a long time).

Re: Michael Prophet
This thread made me buy the "Consciousness" album on CD and two others. The track "Not everything is" is really an absolute highlight for me. The drumming, the vocals and the mix/echoes!!! The song reminds me of "Bali Hi" on Scientist's The best dub album in the world.
I don't know if it's Santa Davis or Sly Dunbar on drums (probably Sly) but it's really different and imho absolutely stunning.

Anyway… great artist. Thanks for the infos on his albums. I only had his two Greensleeves classics and the "Yabby You & Michael Prophet eets Scientist At The Dub Station" before.

Picked up Gunman - went with the CD over the vinyl because of all the bonus 12'' mixes. Also grabbed the Serious Reasoning reissue on vinyl (done by Universal/Island) when the price dropped - very good stuff, top notch quality on the reissue. I'd recommend these albums to anyone.
