Junior Marvin of the Wailers is in the album credits, so it could very well be him.el pueblo wrote:Who is the guitarist in Lacksley Castell's "Morning Glory."

Listened to Bim Sherman last night - some nice guitar playing on "If I Can Make It".
Some prominent guitar playing throughout the album, "Stranded" by Wailing Souls. Given the year of it's release, 1984, I have a hunch that they were probably influenced by the guitar sound that Quincey Jones used when producing Michael Jackson's "Thriller".

Chinna and Dwight Pinkney formerly of Roots Radics are two of the tastiest guitars in reggae. One of my favorite guitar lines is Dwight's intro to "Youthman Penitentiary" by Edi Fitzroy. Undistorted, but with a touch of flanger or phaser. A simple but memorable line that propels this tune forward and starts it off right! It's an integral part of the music, not just an ego-driven note-laden excursion riding on top of the rest of the riddim but not really a part of it.
As far as distorted, screamy 'rock-ish' guitar, a lot of Jamaican reggae acts bring such a guitarist, because they're convinced that's what the people 'a farin' want to hear.

Derrick Harriot's Do I Worry has some very nice guitar work
Thats a great example of how guitar solos should be in reggae (in my personal oppinion of course!)
Its probably already been mentioned, but there is a "guitar version" of Drum Song that is the B side of the trojan single KB - Everything I Own. Its just credited to Jackie Mittoo, I forget who actually does it, someone posted it in a thread on the bing network that is no longer with us which we are not supposed to mention.
