I thought Jahmikmusic label was run by the Twelve Tribes who Fred Locks was affiliated too.

I picked up my copy of this boxset today and the sound on "Black Star Liner" and "Love And Only Love" is definately somewhat better than on the previously issued CD`s that I have.

Also have to agree that some of the dubs (especially the first two tracks) on "Black Star Liner Dub" do not sound like a vintage dub that was recorded back in the 70`s. Several tracks sound much more modern to my ears.

Possibly "BSL Dub" was put together purposely for release with this boxset to make it that much more enticing knowing that the 3 vocal sets had previously been reissued.

I tend to think that any dub counterpart to a vocal album that had made such an impact on its original release as did "Black Star Liner" would have surfaced long before now.

It is still a nice dub album though :)

Just to add to my previous post.

Has anyone noticed how the added dub track "Key of Life Dub" on the "Missing Link" set sounds very similar in style to the first two tracks on "BSL Dub".

Definately sounds like it was mixed by the same hands and makes me even more curious as to the origins of these dubs.

I was perusing this months copy of THE WIRE magazine in whsmiths the other day and happened pon a review of BSL in dub which credits the engineers/mixers for this lp as Sangie Davies, Pablo(ve) Black and Errol Brown.Quite a favourable review as well!

I bought the 4 x cd boxset today.Greatly impressed with the BSL in dub set, good bass definition and subtle mixing make this in my opinion a worthwhile dub album to get.havent listened to the two other lps but looking forward to doing so.

Yes it is a fine album, to me much of it has a very earthy, old, 1970s feel to it, with a fierce bassline here too. Recommend it to you.

Not happy with the dub vinyl. Sounds average at best, both from a mixing and sound quality/mastering point of view. The cover beats the sound, which says it all.

The BSL dub cd is terrific, I must admit.

The quality is rough, sure, but I always figured these were probably dubplates that had been hoarded away for 30-plus years anyway. And we've all heard worse sounding dubplates than these ones.

The biggest problem I had with the dubs, was that they ran so slow compared to the vocal versions. Try playing each track in showcase style, vocal then dub mixes, and see just how slow the dubs run.

Easily fixed with audio editing software, which I did, and now the showcase style sounds much smoother.

Jah guidance.

Ras L you are right, it is surprisingly slow dub but I can cope with it since I got used to it. Great dubs overall.
