I hope its "Leaders of Black Country" issued in original showcase as on the Mobiliser album and not the Kingston Sounds which for some odd reason was a real mish mash.
Of course the CD could have bonus cuts of 7" vocal/version or 12" discomixes to compliment the origian album mix.

"I predict 'Planet Earth' or 'Changes'. Mainly because those two haven't been reissued on CD recently..."
I doubt it. Planet Earth is owned by Virgin, and Changes doesn't feel like it needs a reissue, still plenty copies flying around.
I guess we'll see soon.

Inevitably, there will be some excited people mixed with some disappointed people. If we were putting out all the Mighty Diamonds albums you've mentioned above, I would be able to avoid any disgruntled fans.

Hot milk is shaping up to be the new force to reckon with in the reggae re-release world!
Mellow man is it just CD again or do you have the mp3 license this time too?
Every reggae forum I read people are insisting the reggae re-issues should only be on LP, but I don't want my house full of easily scratched plastic (I'm on my own there I think)

Hey Congo, CD again yes. We licensed the material from EMI, so as usual, they retain the digital rights. I myself am a vinyl man, but my parent company do most of their trade with CD's. Besides, the vinyl for these albums are pretty easy to come by, so would probably not make much financial sense doing them on vinyl, even though I would love to. Vinyl is expensive and risky to do, as the costs can sometimes outweigh the potential gains.
Thankfully I'll be doing a vinyl version of "Torch Of Freedom" as the original vinyl is rare and the market is crying out for it.

I was wrong, they did go with re-issuing Planet Earth. I guess Virgin can't make much money from it. Tabby has a great voice, and this Bahamas produced set will be popular with those younger ones who couldn't track a OG copy. I recall I looked for it for years back in the early 90's prior to "ibay" era. Then, when ibay came to life, it was all over for a few USD. I suppose its hard to find again, especially with dub set.
The strangest story behind this release is indeed that the Gong Sounds press in Jamaica uses a different mix than the Virgin release. Nothing spectacularly different, but noticeable. It is an over produced set in my opinion, and would benefit from a release that takes out some of the instruments. I hope the same would apply to Heptones' masterpiece Nightfood. Remove the fluff, keep the fundamentals.

Reggae reissues sell much better on CD than vinyl, the vinyl fans are just more vocal and active on fora.Congo Bunny wrote:Hot milk is shaping up to be the new force to reckon with in the reggae re-release world!
