Leggo,

Agreed. 12 inch bonus tracks would benefit the shorter re-issues, esp. the releases which clock in about 40 minutes. Paying 16.00 USD for CDs that clock in at the length of the maxi CD single is a bit much (but we by them regardless).

Where are these elusive wackies 12 inches? (besides eBay!). Basicchannel must have them somewhere.

The auralux treament in case of Mikey Dread was excellent. He has also re-issued his back catalog to some degree of success too (WW III, Evolutinary Rockers, SWALK).

Seems to me there's lots of stuff left in the vaults. And some artists are much better represented than others. I love Joe Gibbs, but his stuff has flooded the market to the exclusion of some others recently, I think. Here's a short list off the top of my head of things I either know exist or wonder about that I wish were more easily accessible:

-All the Dr. Alimantado lps on Keyman. In the mix 1-5, Kings Bread, Wonderful Time, Love is..., etc. I love this stuff but never hear anyone even talking about it! An old friend used to have all these. He sold them all. i've never heard them since. (maybe 15 years ago)

-The vocal and or dj cuts to the Mudie meets King Tubby dub albums. Why are these dub albums well known, but not the original cuts? I don't get it. Or are they and I'm just in the dark?

-More of the 70's Studio One stuff, exemplified by the spacey instrumentals by Bagga Walker and Pablove Black. I know some of this is out there, but I suspect there's lots more in the vaults.

-There's no shortage of Bunny Lee productions, but in the movie Dub Echoes we can see his room crammed with old tapes gathering dust. What are these? Have they all been released even?

I don't know what keeps this stuff from seeing the light of day. Or maybe I do. No one has the time or money to put in for what would probably be little return!

Kingsbread & Love Is have been issued on CD over the years,i'm sure they will return at some stage. You may want to keep an eye out for the Dr's "House Of Singles" CD collection.
Harry Mudie's has reissued heaps of LP's CD's & 7" on his Moodisc label should be easy to find his details on google. You should check out his Quad Star Revolution Vols 1 & 2 & Reggae Bible Book Of Drifters for 2 good compilations which are also available on CD.

happy hunting

Yeah i think between Soul Jazz & Heartbeats Creation Rebel we have enough of Spear.

I want the Morwells albums reissued & a compilation of the Fashionaires/Mighty Abijans.
