Hi Gunosantos

Thanks for the feedback.

It definitely wasn't a reissue, but was in pretty poor condition.
I'll see if I can haggle it down to £5 on Monday.

Hello all...

Just to say that the London'69'Radio will not be online in the future: the french SCPP (producers) ask me to delete the radio because of his illegality.

I'm nasty from it, but the economics interest are largest than the free access at culture. The other problem is the fact of jamaican artists and others will never see a cent of the money that the SCPP want to win with this action. What's is sure is that I win nothing with that, but all my thanx to Ja atrtists for all the good music they've made during these long years.

Thanx to the people who listen the radio too, to your fidelity.

Hey londo'69,

Join Live365... or LoudCity if you want some more freedom :-P both services pay all royalties from music played in your station.

Yes, for that reason I am brodcasting my roots reggae show on live365 (see the link in my signature below).

But you - the broadcaster - has to pay a subscription, so they aren't really paying the royalties for you, just keeping it legal.

Sadly, we all know that these payments aren't going to get to the people who made Reggae music. It's a scandal the way royalties are dealt with. And the biggest share still ends up in the record company execs pocket.

Well, we all know that many JA artists never will see 1 cent of royalties from music played on our stations, but the problem is that to stay legal we need to pay royalties to organizations the collect royalties, no matter if artists will get the money or not.

Live365, for example, pay to SoundExchange, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC... and this organizations pay the artists.

SoundExchange have a list of unpaid artists with over 8.000 artists, many of them are reggae artists, just to list some: AFRICAN HEAD CHARGE, AL CAMPBELL, ALPHEUS, AUGUSTUS PABLO, B.B. SEATON, BAOBAB, FRED LOCKS, GARNETT SILK, JACKIE MITTOO, JENNIFER LARA, JIMMY LONDON, LEROY SMART, LITTLE JOHN, LORD CREATOR, LOS CAFRES, NITTY GRITTY, RAS MIDAS, TONY TUFF, TWINKLE BROTHERS, WAYNE WADE, WILLIE WILLIAMS, WINSTON MCANUFF...

If Soundxchange know who is unpaid, why don't they pay them, or their estates?

I read an article recently blasting the record industry for their very lightweight efforts in tracing people who need to be paid royalties.

Funny how they can find the resources to track down kids doing illegal downloading though...

The punk band I was in back in the '90s was with BMI and ASCAP for our albums. Never saw a cent from those guys.

Always figured that their business model assumed not paying the smaller acts so as to make up for keeping track of the majors. They get to keep the "blank media" levy too.

That last still honks me off--getting charged royalties on the media we'd record our own material on, then getting stiffed on our share of that too. I've ranted on the subject before, so I'll let it go for now.

Recently posted an all-Dub podcast. Follow the instructions in my .sig below. The graphic with the contents list is the link. Last month's Ska show is still up too.
Peace,

James

I'm still tempted to podcast, but because I want to make a real go of this reggae DJ lark, I'm holding off, as I don't want to cause problems for myself or my server.
