How could you say that MILLER was a follower?! He was only 25/26 years old when he passed away and began his carrer in 68. He really began to turn roots music in 74 with Pablo and for that reason he was a child of this golden era and not a follower.

With COXSONE in 68 he impressed enough to made the first 'NANNY GOAT' version and his first 'Keep On Knocking' song played in TUBBY and Pablo's sound system before Pablo made another remake in 74.

He was considered like a best singer by PABLO and MARLEY and was able to sing every sort of music with credibility, like roots (with Pablo, the top singles in reggae history, no?) opera or Tom Jones and made roots music with INNER CIRCLE like no other band or dancefloor albums who, in this 70's contexte, were well done.

I can't agree when you said MILLER made cliché songs. The songs he made with Pablo and LP like 'TENEMENT YARD', 'KILLER MILLER' and 'WANTED' have a different and far away powerfull sound like the artists the majority of people adulate today i think. Yes he haven't the international aura of Marley because:

He sounds too local and INNER CIRCLE prefer catch internationaly in another direction like dancefloor (LP's like 'REAGGAE THING' or 'READY FOR THE WORLD' and 'EVERYTHING IS GREAT' are good if we put off our blocked mind thinking away)

Ask you why he was the people 's singer for Jamaicans in these times!

Hi ITES, i understand this like 'jumpig in the bandwagon'. It's not that you mean? It's impossible said this for MILLER because some songs he made were foundation songs, like the 2 first he made in Studio One and the sessions recordings for Pablo.
For the INER CIRCLE's sessions, it's true to said it's not foundation works because they began in 74 made roots music together but they were, i think, in another nivel in musical focus (powerful roots music).
