I really love Johnny Osbourne's work... among my favorite albums are the already mentioned "Fally Lover", "Never Stop Fighting", the classic "Truths & Rights" and also "Nightfall Showcase" (wich is pretty much the same as "In Nah Disco Style").

The 12" version of "Purify Your Heart" on Black Joy label is pure killer! one of my favorite 12's for sure.

Strange enough, I didn't see no one mention this great LP:

[cover=1929,2280]

In my opinion one of the best (if not THE best) full LP's ever produced by Jammy's. Some great tracks such as "Jahovah", "Fret You A Fret", "Live Right" and also the title track "Folly Ranking". The whole LP is trully great and the sleeve and the colored vinyl just makes this one a stand-out record in my whole collection.

Blessings,
DJ Guno Santos

Like Guno, I rate him to the righest...

Would suggest...

-Fisrt Trumpet as said *rasdragon*. Pure wickedness.

-Purify Your heart (there is a Techniques 12" too)

-Inflation (exist on the flip of the same 12", and 7")

-Back Off (a Greensleeves 12")

-Never Stop Fighting (7", 10" repress or LP)

-The new "Blackstar Liner" is great too.

-Truth and Right 7" (the only tune of my interest on the LP)

-Nyah Man is great too...

ps.: IMO unbelieveable his singing carreer: started in the 60´s and had still hit tunes to the early 90´s. Easy to find on many many Various Artits compilations, like Gregory as well, thats an high indicator for me

I don't know what I would think of this one if it hadn't been the first one I heard. But since it was, and since I knew nothing about reggae when I heard it, it's always held a special place in my collection. There's a pretty tuff remake of Purify Your Heart on it(Of course, at the time, I assumed this was the original)

Each to his own, of course, but I bought this when it came out and I've never thought much of it. The only upside is that my copy is in mint condition!
I'll concede there are definitely some real stinkers on there. You'd have to pay me to sit through all of "Rolling Reggae" :)

close but no cigar...in nah disco style includes extended version of rude boys which appears no where else that i know of and which i consider the best track on the album.

also jo released some great singles that are rarely compiled on LPs, like black star liner mentioned earlier but also struggle haffe gwan that was on a greensleeves sampler at one point.

jo is definately alive and in fine form.

one love
