Got »Smoker Super« myself in the mail yesterday. Very well done, as always with Buyreggae. Anyone know who the people behind the label is? They seem quite low-key... Only having a small logo on their releases, never really announcing them (from what I can see), they just show up. And still they are well chosen titles and obvious works of love.

Yes, I know abot the website and that they are german. But more than that? People in this business usually interact with the massive in one way or the other. And as a label of good force, they are not making much noise. Even on their own website, »Smoke Super« is labeled Chartbound/Jammys and not Buyreggae. Same thing with their other titles. That's being more discreet than they need to be, if I were to give my opinion.

Got my copy of Barry Brown "Thompson Sound" CD today and playing it now, superb sound quality and an excellent 10 page booklet.
I never realised he died after falling and hitting his head whilst in a recording studio. I have heard several accounts of how he died but not that one before.

German Amazon releases it on May 9th, lame!Rootsman wrote:Got my copy of Barry Brown "Thompson Sound" CD today
A little off topic: Has anyone of you here seen the tvshow The Wire? Doesn't Barry Brown on that cover look a lot like the character Lester?

I ordered the new Barry Brown. It's on its way to me now, I think.
I'm really looking forward to this. BB was (I didn't even know he was dead until now!) one of the most underrated reggae artists, I think.

I always knew he had died following a fall but I had heard that he had died following a fall down steps at an underground stationj j wrote:That's the only one I heard, soon after his death. What were the reasons for his death that you heard?
