So if all this "judging" of homosexuality is wrong? Why judge Bunny and remove him from the website.

I think all of us have come out in favour of free speech.

here's a line from my first answer int his thread:

"However, freedom of speech is a universal must so blanking Bunny because of his stance is also wrong in my eyes. But then I guess it is up to the webmaster, it's his site after all."

Sitting here reading, listening to music, and pondering these hard questions some more.

I think the site owner passed on something important by taking the site down. Far more powerful a message could have been had by leaving it up and also hosting a discussion such as this, or simply posting commentary of his own along side of it.

For whatever reasons, he chose to do what he did--water under the bridge, as they say. The site owner gets to choose what happens there whether anyone else likes it or not, same as here at RA.

Imperfect, but it's the best I can come up with. One thing about the web, sites come and go all the time, but Google caches stuff forever.
Peace,

James

I just want to remark that I'm very glad that it is possible to discuss a difficult subject like this in such a calm and respectful way.
I've seen a number of discussions like this get out of hand, with people retreating to violent talk, clichés and 'yelling'...
Nice to see all your sensible posts here.

Peace & respect to all,

A.

Agreed Antverpia. Although I have to admit I've been kinda nervous waiting for things to kick off. But you're right, the discussion has stayed true to Roots-Archive's style. Reasonable, varied - but good vibes always!

That's why I like it here. First forum site I've participated in where I find myself wishing the world weren't so big, distance-wise.

A Roots Archives World Party would be something to see.
Peace,

I wonder if there are any gay reggae enthusiasts that could share their opinion? I know for a fact I've seen many a gay man at the dancehall here in San Francisco.

" Homophobia within rasta/reggaedom needs to be taken in context. Bunny has grown up knowing a certain set of values and he cannot be blamed for being a product of his environment. "

Trouble is you can make the same arguement for the redneck fucks that would hang a black man from a tree down south, or the arab/african slaver who sold their own people into bondage.

Have whatever opinions you like but keeping them too yourself is always a good policy.
