Mine doesn't skip at all, but there is a fair amount of surface noise here and there, which leads me to believe it may have been reissued from a vinyl copy rather than from master tapes. But don't quote me on that. I'm guessing you would get an answer straight from the horses' mouth if you posted this question on Blood & Fire board, as the digikiller guy, RB, is fairly active there. I think when you get a lot of surface noise on a reissue, but the vinyl looks clean and new, it's because it's taken either from a vinyl copy or from an old, worn out stamper.
Hi took me ages to get a new record player, and when I got the new one, satta played fine. I haven't played the other one yet, I'm savoring the moment. Anyway satta plays perfect. Sorry to doubt the product, and sorry not to have said here that they are ok, I meant to post something but I didn't get round to it. I should have done that.
Very curious about my press of African Anthem though because it's on DATC but not the label shown on R-A. It looks older. Dunno if it's the original JA press. Looks like this: http://cdn1.cdnme.se/934995/7-3/anthemd ... a01b54.jpg
Nice pickups Kal! His Majesty's Dub is one of the first dub LPs I had the good fortune to hear and is still amongst my favorites. I saw the Carl Harvey LP for auction a couple weeks back. I like some of the rhythms a lot, but I eventually decided his guitar playing is a bit too meandering for my taste and took a pass. There are some tracks on the LP where he really does hold a funky groove, though. If Carl's licks hadn't been recorded in one night before departing JA as I recall reading (perhaps on a thread here?), it may well have been a powerhouse of a record.
I have no idea about the African Anthem press. Sounds intriguing!
Most recently I was very happy to win these two excellent sets:

Gwaaaaaaan Junior! The man has a style all his own, even if much indebted to Curtis Mayfield. What is he up to today? I would love to see him doing live shows again, or, even better, putting out some new tunes! I'm sure these two sets will not leave the immediate vicinity of the hi-fi for a long long time.
Up for auction by the same seller who sold the Junior English LPs was the Investigators - First Case LP, which I regret not putting in a bid for $15 or so. Wicked artwork on that one, although unfortunately not listed on RA so I can't post it here. The music contained therein seems to be overall very worthwhile too. Oh well, next time around.
Yes, Billy. The Carl Harvey is a nice set but not crucial. The cut of Mundell's Jah Fire is a bit of a missed opportunity.
Junior English on the other hand is CRUCIAL. Naturally High is one of his strongest sets. But what's interesting is that there's an alternativa cut of Heading for the Wrong Direction on his Crashed set which is much more like a dubplate cut. Sparse drum and bass excursion. I've got the Naturally High cut on 12" but would almost have preferred the Crashed cut more.
Can't find a fault on any of his LP's from 1978 to 1983. I still have to get two of them though. He released an album in 2008 which I've only seen but haven't heard. Would be interesting to get a review of it if anyone has a copy.
I used to have that Investigators LP on digital format. Years ago. Wasn't too impressed by it. But I have a much bigger appreciation of lovers rock nowadays so I would love to hear it again.

I was actually trying to find that 2008 album the other day. I only found some snippets, so I can't give a full review, but he doesn't sound anything like back in the day. My impression was some kind of gospelesque lyrics over really quite bland rhythms.
