The African Dub Chapters are well worth picking up. They have recently been re-issued on 2CD`s.

There are some good rhythms like George Nooks' cut to Tribal War and remakes to many Studio 1 classics like Rockfort Rock, Swing Easy, Fatty Fatty etc.

African Dub 1 & 2 for me are best, whereas 3 & 4 lack horns and use more synths.

These are not to everyones taste in dub but I think they represent Joe Gibbs at his creative best.

Peace

The best dubs seem to be scattered all over in various odd places. For example, they can be found on the flip of an occasional 7", on a random discomix or as bonus track on a reissue, you name it. But rarely does a dub album as a whole astound with the quality of the dubs. Moreover, even a classic dub set such as 14 Dub Blackboard Jungle doesn't impress only with standout dubs; the power of an album is often more in the selection of the rhythms and the overall vibrations. Hence the best dub album doesn't have to contain the best dubs. Yet this is _not_ to say that a classic dub set like Blackboard Jungle doesn't contain absolutely sublime dubs, just because they do ;D

Off with my ramblings, my choice would be

Roots Underground - Tribesman Assault

A scorcher!
