Reggae in Soul?

Post by jaglinus »

I am doing a radio show about the connection between soul music and reggae. Do you know any soul/funk artists who have done reggae songs or songs with a reggae feel?

Thanks a lot!

Best Regards,
Linus

And pretty much anything by the great funk/soul group Cymande - they were Rastafarians. The below is a straight up Rasta chant

Also Sade - Slave Song

Needless to say, there are hundreds of reggae covers of soul songs. If you are not familiar with it, definitely check out the "Darker than Blue" collection on Blood & Fire and the similar Soul Jazz label releases
