Hi All,
I picked up a slightly beaten, but still very playable copy of Scientist's "Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires" via a seller on discogs.com recently, but when I received it I was amused to note it wasn't either of the Greensleeves issues, or the Jah Guidance one, it was put out by Thompson Sound.
I haven't been able to dig up much online regarding the pressing at all, and I was wondering if anyone here might have any information on it?
Any guidance at all would be much appreciated...
Much love.

All those Thompson Sounds pressings of Junjo-productions tend (strictly?) reissues from the 90's.

Thanks! Good to know...I had another seller on discogs confirm that it was more than likely from between the original and the latest Greensleeves issue...any idea on country of origin? I found a label page, again, on discogs, but no mention of this release...

Thompson Sound is a JA press, not the greatest but still fairly clean & a heavy mix!Bruce wrote:any idea on country of origin?

Forgive my ignorance, but a JA press indicates Jamaican?
Thanks,

Exactly. I've had several (and still might have some) Thompson Sounds reissues. They tend to be rather good if you disregard the horrible cover art they usually sport.

Good to know...the puzzle gets a little closer to being done then...
Sometime in the nineties, Jamaican pressing, and yes, I agree, the cover art was pretty crappily done...the colors are slightly off, and the image was basically lifted from the Greensleeves issue, it even still has their code on it (GRELCD25).
I really appreciate the assistance...

Some years ago I picked up the Thompson Sound press of Big Joe's *African Princess*

Very cheap graphics and the studio band is incorrectly credited as the Roots Radics. Still, a great DJ set and not bad sound quality, but I was glad to eventually pick up the Trojan original.

Indeed, the colors are actually slightly off on my cover, making the image look a little like you should be looking at it with 3D glasses...and then ink was obviously cheap...it has worn away in places.
I'll be keeping an eye out for an affordable original copy, but for now I am rather happy with the Thompson Sound pressing...

Re: "Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse..." on Thompson Sound
as far as i am aware a wave of thompson sounds pressings were released in the very late 90s early 00s, from jamaican plants... my sources are catalogs of an italian shop pioneer on vinyl import from JA at age, one love music corner, affiliated to one love hi pawa sound system
particularly noticeable are the bare labels and tri-color off-focused effect on covers... i had that specific scientist LP of thread title but i thereafter purchased the greensleeves reissue for a better cover...
yes, i agree, output volume isnt bad at all, this is the reason why i sold my viceroys' we must unite on trojan years ago, sound was weak, and hunting for that new one, released in 2000, because i am sure that the repress have a louder output
does someone have any clue on this?
