Jah Mikey and General Jah Mikey

Post by Nandez »

Are these the same artist?

I recently saw footage from the 1986 African Love show in NYC and Jah Mikey completely rips it up. After doing a search for "Jah Mikey", the results are mostly for "General Jah Mikey." I have a couple of General Jah Mikey tunes from the 80's that were produced by Witty (which are really good), but the vocalist doesn't sound the same as the Jah Mikey from the African Love video.

If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

General JAH Mikey and Mikey General are different people...
Mikey General is from the Luciano family and JAH Mikey is based in L.A. in California.. JAH Mikeys big hit was Footprints from the late '80's and has been doing drum and bass, dubstep, and ragga as of late.. He often tours with ShineHead..

Mikey General was of UK fame prior to being affiliated with Luciano. Released a whole slew of great songs on the Digikal and Fashion imprints. He moved to JA some time in the early 90's.

And as stated earlier General Jah Mikey and Mikey General are two different artists.

Thank you both for your responses.

Do either of you or anyone else know of any good Jah Mikey tunes from the 80's?

Also, upon closer look at the Witty tunes, the artist's name is listed as General Jah "Mickey" (with a "c"). Is this yet another artist? Because this vocalist sounds nothing like "Catch the 85 Style" for instance.
