Opinions on a couple of recent Jamaican Recordings releases?

Worth getting? Genuine, insomuch that they were actually worked on by the people stated?

I know that this label has put out some releases in the past that fans have stated to be bogus (e.g. that Augustus Pablo Meets The Wailers At Black Ark, or whatever it was called) - and that it's prudent be wary of 'new' Tubby or Scientist-related releases in general...

"Creation Of Dub" is indeed a classic Tubby's dub LP released in the 70's, and definitely worth getting if you Tubby's is up your alley. This release looks like extra tracks have been added. You might want to hear the sound quality first, I don't know if they have transferred it from tape or a vinyl copy of the original LP.

Thanks for that. I'm wondering if Jamaican Recordings/Kingston Sounds are getting better - I got their recent reissue of Tappa Zukie's 'Raggy Joey Boy' and found it to be excellent.

Of course, that could all be undone if the other one turns out to be 'Bunny Lee's Degraded Tapes Meet Unknown Amateur PC Dubber Inna South London Bedsit' or 'Pseudoscientist, King Tibby, Septembus Pablo and Lee Graze Perry present: Dubious Dub' all over again. Does anyone recognise any of the track titles? :)

I have about 12 releases total from both labels and they seem to be hit or miss. Vinyl. The wax is heavy, like 180 gram style with an appreciated sentence or two saying what tune the dub is from. Sound quality is flat on some and great on others...?...But Ernie B has them for $8.99 USD, so the deal is to be had...

I've got four lp's: Don Carlos Inna Dub Style, Horace Andy Dub Box, U Roy's I am the Originator and King Tubby's The Roots of Dub. I really like them all, the sound quality is really good, I know Tubby's albums are real and the songs included in U Roy's album sound like the original mixes to me. But I've heard that both, Don Carlos and Horace Andy are fakes and I sensed that the dubs do not belong to the time where they are supposed to belong, nevertheless, I found the two albums really good, and I like the art covers, sound quality and everything. They are really cheap too at Ernie B, I listened the "Scientist Meets The Crazy Mad Professor At Channel One", and it turned out to be a great album, really good dubs in there, I read at Ernie's review, that those are the original mixes, and you should not pay attention to the title, I guess they are right. So I strongly reconmend you to get the albums, in my case they all have been worthy.

Blessings,
Mariachi.

I think that if Jamaican Recordings had the good taste to be clear from the start that they have new mixes on old rhythms that their albums would have gotten a lot better reviews. Many of the sets aren't bad at all in my opinion but just knowing that they're trying to pull them off as original mixes make me lose the interest in them.
