While we're at it, I know that the drawing on the back of Kiddus I's 'Rockers - Graduation In Zion' has been mentioned on here before as being something that people could interpret as dubious...

I showed it to my dad and a couple of my friends and they all immediately started giggling and made comments about 'is this guy from Wales/Leeds/Yorkshire?'.

I think the truly bad covers are those who are just plain boring or lack any form of expression. "Seriousness is the refuge of the shallow", as Oscar Wilde said. But then there are those that have a sense of "fail" in them (in lack of a better term). For example this:

[cover=5900,4333]

A stained crotch is not cool for an album cover, even though it has its charm. But then there are those who are just so sweet in their imagery that you'd need a heart of frozen stone to call them bad or ugly:

[cover=2481,2857]

"I look so nice, I have to be there thrice."

I love both albums, especially the latter (and it has nothing to do with crotch stains).

dont judge a book by its cover!!
Wow, the Floyd Lloyd cover is mental. "Better to laugh than to cry." What's the music like?

@Max

well IMO its not a killer but way better than the cover, an optimistic album with a lovers/soul touch. The arrangements are fine.

If he sounded like Jerry Lee Lewis, then that cover would be fine... :)

Just to bump this (for fun) with some more I've encountered/seen discussed recently...

[cover=808,938]
[cover=6752,4716]
[cover=6833,4477]
[cover=7998,5187]
[cover=1418,1638]

Also, you need to see the cover Enos McLeod's 'Moods of a Genius' - that makes him look like a rapist.

This, which I mentioned in another thread today.

[cover=2832,3279]

It's a Tapper Zukie album with a picture of someone who isn't Tapper Zukie on the front. Designer error?
