Records with different labels on the A and B side

Post by Rootsman »

I was reading the liner notes that are with the "Dubble Attack - Original Pantomine DJ Collection" CD and they contain the following sentence.

"Dean Beckfords Fathers Call was the only track ever to be released on the Happy Feet label as the flip side was on the Pantomine label".

I was wondering if this occured very often as I can not recall ever owning or seeing a record where the A and B sides were on different labels.

I know Glen Brown used many imprints and only ever released in small quantities and never repressed hence no back catalogue and wondered if this had something to do with it.

So would this have been a one off by Glen Brown or has it occured with other producers?

Thanks

Dave

It happens with other producers and also happens on other Glen brown singles, it kind of makes sense when both labels are from the same producer, but I've seen some where the labels are totally unrelated, I guess even getting the correct artist/title was a plus so why worry about the label's name.

I've got a disco which is Ethnic Fight on one side and Exclusive on the flip. Both sides are rather great rub-a-dub though (Well Pleased & Satisfied and Purpleman respectively).

I have a 12 in my collection of the Mighty Diamonds' "Heads of Government." Side A is the Rub-a-Dub label, side B is G Revolutionary Sounds (both of which are Germain labels, but the graphics are completely different)

Yeah! I've also got a couple of Germain/Reggae/Rub-A-Dub discos. He seemed to like and mix up a bit between his own labels.
