Rubbish... This is pc gone mad, of course some musicians are better than others, are you saying that vanilla ice is equally as talented a musician as Earnest Ranglin? Because he's not earnie is in a whole other league.... Madness of course you can compare musicians

lloyd parks is a killer, vastly underrated bassist and a great singer too... the whole We The People band was an excellent, excellent live band as well.

Lloyd Parks is very underrated. And let's not forget about Leroy Sibbles - maybe not the most proficient musician but I believe we can all agree he was very effective.

Robbie is an international music professional. He -- along with Sly -- did nearly as much as Bob Marley to spread the news of Jamaican music around the world, playing on Bob Dylan LPs, jamming with Serge Gainsbourg and hanging with Keith Richards. And I love those '80s Taxi records. Hard sound yet still commercial.

But Flabba, I believe helped shape the mood, the direction of reggae from the late '70s into the pre-digital '80s as much as anyone. The Radics were THE SOUND of Jamaican music in the early '80s. I think it's safe to say that Robbie Shakespeare's career began in another era and mutated with the times into sometimes breathtakingly progressive JA sounds. But if you wanna go there, Flabba and the Radics were the final word in the "traditional" reggae sound that started with Ska, turned into Rocksteady and Reggae, Dub, Steppers, Rockers and Dancehall. They were the epitaph before the swell of Casios and computer riddims came on the scene threatening the existence of the traditional Jamaican studio musician.

And now for the rest of the story...

And when speaking of great bassies we must also give respect to the great Brian Atkinson who played on virtually the entire Studio One Rock Steady output and even some of the late period Ska there with electric bass. The story that nobody knows! Hux Brown will tell ya'll about Brian! And the cool thing is Brian still sounds exactly the same today! Jackie Jackson ruled Treasure Isle and Brian ruled Studio One, not Leroy Sibbles until Brian left for Canada with Jackie Mittoo and Lyn Tait, etc......

Also, Brian was generally the bassie on Lyn Tait & The Jets sessions along with Hux, Joe Isaacs and Gladdy!
