Yes, the "Volts of Holt" series is a great examples, especially given the music is all but "high voltage" (good music, but really soft & mellow "violin" reggae / should have been called "Low Volts of Holt")

Now, how about this:

500 VOLTS OF DUB

If any of the series, this one should have gone up in voltage from a title point of view :)

ha ha! I totally agree flashman.

That Beatles and Pink Floyd cover crap is as embarassing as it is boring.

Has Reggae, in certain aspects, sunk so low in creativity that this is what some artists/labels resort to?

I'll throw in VP's recent 'Reggae Gone Country' [or whatever that hunk of junk is called] and their recent 'Covers of Lovers'

Covers??? The only thing I want to cover is my ears when I hear these concept albums.

I know this may sound rough but with things like the Pink Floyd and Beatles covers --- do you think they are [strictly] targeting the white people Reggae market?

Apparently these things sell ok though - sure puzzles me how and why.

There are still a couple record stores around here and almost every time I go in and sift through the reggae section lots of people (yes, mostly white) come over and look in the Bob Marley section, then the Easy Star section, and then they leave. So, that may answer your question.

Heh, that pretty much *is* the reggae section in my local music shop.

Last time I went in it was:

Bob Marley albums
Dubious Bob Marley compilations
Reggae covers albums
2-Tone Ska
A few best-ofs
Some hip-hop that somehow get filed under 'reggae'

...or even worse, UB40 albums, Johnny Clegg and Savuka(!), Eddy Grant and Ziggy Marley. That's all I ever see in the used "reggae" bins.
