Yah man...I wanted some dub tones myself so I just made a few. I currently have a couple of scientist/linval thompson ringtones. Pretty cool to hear but if I'm listening to dub at home or in the car loud the ringtone gets lost or sounds like a faint echo.
Depending on your phone and mobile provider...you can just transfer/upload shorter versions of mp3s or change them into midi files as ringtones. You should be able transfer sounds from your removable flash/memory card and use them as ringtones but some phones vary. May need a phone usb cable or media card reader. I had to do some research on the web for my phone to get mp3 ringtones working.

You should be able to just rename the extension from scientist.mp3 to scientist.mid
One of my friends has Cingular and he just uses mp3 as ringtone. So it depends on your carrier. I have Verizon and I had to rename the file to .mid
I had to use a program called Bitpm to connect to my phone using a USB cable so I could transfer ringtones over. Verizon made it hard to utilize this feature and they disabled features so your forced to download from them or other ways but there is always back door.
After you find out how to do it...you have the freedom to make any ringtone you want and it's free. You can check howardsforums.com for your phone/carrier...that's where I learned.

When I make a ringtone, I open a wav-file, do a little cut and paste, and save the file as 64 Kb mp3.
My mp3's are not much longer than 30 seconds. No need to make them that long.
A 30 seconds, 64 Kb mp3 is about 300 kb in filesize.

Yah...my friend has Cingular...and he uses bluetooth to connect to his MAC. I don't the know specifics since I don't have blue tooth or a MAC.
Yah you should trim your mp3s for ringtones. There are all kinds of programs to use to trim them.
