More complete King Tubby discography?

Post by skippy »

While I am extremely impressed with the work done on the X-ray music.com site regarding tubby's discography, I can't help but notice that there are many glaring omissions in the 7" department..does anyone know of any other 7" discogaphies for Tubby available? internet or otherwise?

Thanks!

Someone's seriously trying to compile a complete King Tubby discography?

Man, just separating out the fake stuff credited to him after his death would drive quite a lot of guys crazy.

I wonder if anyone in the world owns everything piece of officially released music he ever touched? I'll bet that even his own family members don't.

It would be best for whoever builds it to start with B-sides from his earliest mixing adventures for various producers.because even the not so known 45's aka underground usually pop's up every now and then.

obviously any such venture is fraught with difficulties - does it include tracks:

credited to tubby
mixed at tubbys by tubby
mixed at tubbys by jammies, philip smart etc
uncredited to anyone but reputed to be by tubbys

etc etc..............

like to see it nonetheless though!

check it out its a great site...it deals with the records MIXED by Tubby..not recorded or produced...like i said its missing a lot though...the one hard thing I admit is distinguishing between Tubby and Prince Philip and Pat Kelly..the latter pretty much try to copy Tubby's mixing...although Philip's "Rasta Dub '76" features some unique mixing to my ears...

Tubbys mixing is basically bass oriented dubs, and uses sparse echo's in vocals IMO.
