Well said, Arty. Although getting into that mindset takes time! I would never get rid of my entire collection, but as mentioned my goal is to reduce it by 40%. My life has changed, and so must my music collection. Now that I'm no longer a radio DJ, I don't have as much of an outlet for my music, and being a nerd with 1000s of CDs and 100s of records that I never play isn't much fun. :) I'll choose the best and find some way to dispose of the rest.

Well, I did have a plan for what to do with my collection before I'm dragged off to an old folks' home, but arty knows my family better than I do, so I'd better forget it.

I sell stuff all the time. It gives me the opportunity to buy other records that I do like. Rare records show up here and there but I don´t always like them. So I sell those and buy other tunes in return online..
Some really rare pieces but I don´t regret it all because I´m in a happy great relationship and the rest are just material things, for entertainment and having fun.

I don't think that many do. A story that I heard from many soundowners: they invited Jamaican vintage artist X for their dance and did the backing. They played 45-versions and the artist asks "where did you get this nice version from?" "Uhm, it's on the flip of your 45 from 197X.."

Not long ago, Earl 16 came to our town, the selectors of the inviting sound are friends of mine and they are serious collectors. Earl was totally blown away by the collection and asked, if he could return some day to digitalise some records.

And @vlad: I totally agree on the negative/positve collector thing!

Nilo and Vlad in which group are you concerning sharing? Do you have a site or a you tube channel, just curious. If you are in the negative group no problem you paid for the tunes so you have got every right. I am and hope others are not judgemental.

Hey Siegi,
I don't judge anyone - if people want to keep their records for themselves, it's their right to do so. Actually I got friends, who wouldn't copy a record on tape/cd for you if you'd ask. Personally I believe we can make this world a little better if we share the good things (not just music).

And yes, I got a site (www.rockers-vibration.de) where I'm trying to share some of my music and the informations I got. When I started doing it, I wrote in English and German, but it turned out to be too time-consuming, so the newer podcasts are only in German. You can still listen to the music though, I'd appreciate that ;)

Nice site Always good to promote and introduce reggae that way. Nilo, I will check it out when I am home and since we are neighbours I can understand and read German. Will check the podcast too
Thanks
