@gbougard well we are just different persons but I know you also value an opinion and the freedom of speech. And of course you cannot say something if you donnot like the art. Everybody is different. But Iam also interested in what LP's or songs you donnot like and why. I dont see that as negative I see that as just the same or a different taste.
I think art can be valued and judged on a personal level. I donnot see why an artist should be judge less then common people at work. We all work, produce and will be judged on our output. Besides people buy the art or they wont. It is all about taste at that period of time eg Rembrandt died poor and misunderstood.
You and I buy and promote the art and have expectations, that gives us a right to say something with respect about if they meet my personal expectations or not. I agree, you can say things in a posive manner and state your opinion with respect for the other one whether you like something of not.
Oke back on Topic at first I was excited about this release but later I noticed I had/heard most of the stuff. Still enjoyable but I wont buy it (now). That is my personal opinion.
Nothing but Greatness for Perry and PS. But that isnt the topic. And gladly allot of you like this compilation so PS will release more in the future. But I hope they also read my message.

Re: Lee Perry - The Sound Doctor!
Unlike the disco devil release I do not have or to my knowledge have not heard any of theese tracks before and I thought I had a pretty good lee Perry collection
This is a much better release than the Trojan one as most of these tracks cannot be bought easily on amazon iTunes etc untill now where as the trojan one is stuff that is really easy to get in many different sources and cheap.
I bet you couldn't buy all these singles in as good a quality for as cheap a price
But obviously if you already have all these singles then you won't want to buy it thats just logic

"This is a much better release than the Trojan one"
I think everyone can agree with that. Atleast Pressure Sounds tries to release something new, instead of recycling old material.

Rootsman, I couldn't have said it better. Well said! The snobbery and dismissiveness that some people bring to this board is what is really rubbish and disappointing.
I am certain that if Pressure Sounds put out a 10 CD box set with every obscure Perry single as well as more than 20 unreleased tracks with stunning sound quality, someone would still find something to complain about.

Sleeper are you talking about me? Do i have a right on my opinion to find something disappointing or not? Who are you to judge me. Tell me who are you???
I think they can do a better job and that is what we all would like to see.
And it is not more or less snobbery then people are talking the trojan release down. There are people who appreciate that particular collection on cd. It is just a different level of snobbery because most people have those songs. I donnot hear you about that. The only reason for your specific attack on this thread I can think of is that it must hurt that your collection isnt as big as your ego.
Maybe it is better to say nothing and let it pass and only talk on this forum when i like something. On the other hand people who fight people with different opinions I will fight.

@AnorakTrev believe me I did do my homework a long time ago I have studied the website, the onlinemagazine, the podcasts and the people and supporters behind it for years.
Everybody have a nice Sunday. And pls get this thread back on topic.

I am the man Lee Perry calls "Mick Waker".Siegi wrote:Sleeper are you talking about me? Do i have a right on my opinion to find something disappointing or not? Who are you to judge me. Tell me who are you???
I don't think my ego is in question here; I'm not indirectly bragging about my collection by griping about new collections having nothing to offer me.The only reason for your specific attack on this thread I can think of is that it must hurt that your collection isnt as big as your ego.
The reason for my "attack" is that some people have a big collection and an ego to match, and so they spend time complaining about new releases because - as Rootsman pointed out - it might be a compilation of songs that the person is lucky enough to own already. In other words: "I have a big collection full of rare tunes and I'm mistakenly assuming that everyone else does, and so I'll dismiss everything that gets re-released because they're not good enough for my high standards."
And - just so you get a good night's sleep Siegi - if you look back over this thread, it wasn't you who used the word "rubbish", it was someone else. I wasn't attacking you specifically, rather a few grumbling individuals who the cap fit, let them wear it.
