Willie Williams messenger man LP?
Is it musically sophisticated or is it just an epic production?

Inna reggaewise I'd say 'Lend Me Your Chopper' by Johnny Osbourne. Bass and drums form utterly tight unity, couldn't done better.

For me Burning Spear does it on two counts - production-wise Marcus' Children/Social Living is great and melodically This Population on Studio One 7" is as complex as it gets (to me anyway).

this population has an adorable picking guitar that goes out of tune a couple of times... got to love it!

Thanks for the contributions; Sophisticated = "Developed to a high degree of complexity". So adding strings or overdubs (a la Heptones' Night Food LP) is not enough.

I can't remember hearing any reggae song more musically sophisticated than Zion Land by Ras Michael.

Can I nominate this?

Marvel at how he manages to alternate between singing like a drunk - and man who's suffered from a stroke. Sophisticated vocal technique there.
