Are you listening to CD or MP3? Reason I ask is that you I have the CD and it sounds no way like the impression you give.

Tinga Steward definately doesnt sound like some drunk stroke victim slurring his words. I have listened to the sound clip that has been posted and it sounds pretty much the same as the CD version.

Perhaps the issue is more to do with the MP3 download as to me the CD sounds fine. Liner notes are quite nice too, although I heard they read slower on the download :D

Anyway, I think its a good release and am just happy to have a collection of tracks that were generally not known to me.

So what happened - did someone at Pressure Sounds have the turntable set to '33' when playing the 7"s?

@ rootsman.

I have the MP3

I was beginning to wonder if the problem was with the MP3 release

If I get a chance next week I will put up a link to my Tinga track pre speeding up I did

I still love the album. But if there is a problem with the MP3 I'd like pressure sounds to fix it

Anyone else have the MP3?

Beyer still anyone have both of have a friend with a version on a different format from them to do a comparison?

Btw the booklet is unreadable on the MP3 its sooo slow

I'll just point out for the record that I listened to the clips on Ernie B and the Tinga Stewart definitely does sound like a drunken stroke victim. It sounds like its playing at, I don't know, 23rpm?

I don't think it's a problem with the track being too slow (Smiling Faces), I think it's Tinga singing in a different style. The rhythm track sounds fine, it's just Tinga's vocals that are different. I'm pretty sure the good people at Pressure Sounds would notice if the records were playing at the wrong speed!

Can't listen to the PS release but the original release sounds like this:
http://drumandbass.sakura.ne.jp/mp3/vintage5/146516.mp3

And from what I can hear it does indeed sound as the PS release is true to the original. Would never have recognised the singer as Tinga to be honest.

Correct speed, it's just that Tinga Stewart sings he song in the same style as the Undisputed Truth (who had a big hit with tihs Tempations cover)

He is imitating lead singer Joe Harris timbre..

Thanks for the info, Jumbo. I actually have the Undisputed Truth album the song is on but I would never had remembered this. Don't think I've listened to it more than once though. From what I remember it was more or less a cover album.

I think that sounds slightly faster than the PS release, but who cares eh?

If this was something Tinga was trying out as a new style I think it sounds crap, it really does sound like he's drunk

And what of the different experience track? that is definitely slower on sound doctor
