Help dating Trojan label design

Post by KingWibbler »

When did Trojan STOP using rough texture labels?

I want this info so I can tell an original press from a later one.

And does anyone know when the blue/pink and green labels came into use, I've seen them on Trojan records that seem to date from around 1980-ish.

Thanks in advance for your knowledge and time.

I have another label question (sorry)

I have a copy of Super Ape - it has an Island label I'm not sure about. It's a sort of modern art, with the writing all in connected circles. I'd upload a scan but I can't see any way to add images in threads on this forum!

Is it a modern repress? There's no barcode anywhere - so it can't be that new, can it?

The help of the experts out there would be brilliant.

The blue and green colours came into use as far as Im aware in the lATE '70's. The Silvertones "African Dub" was on a blue Trojan Rockers release around '77.
Matumbi had a tune "Cant Satisfy" around the same time on the same colour label.
As for roughtexture llabels, I couldnt tell.....
