By the sounds of it you aren't listening to a promo copy, it sounds more like a working copy of the project in progress. Not sure why PS would willfully send out to people something to review that wasn't representative of what they would be selling. Perhaps it's a mistake.

Promo copies are usually replicas of the released copies. The promo files I have heard are identical to what was released.

I have this on vinyl. On my Techniques 1200 turntable i simply set the pitch at -8 and the ENTIRE lp plays perfect. I have come across this a bunch of times over the years and the common error was during compilation. It was probably done with a DAT machine. If you recorded at 48K by accident, then when you play back at the standard 44K, it will run too slow. So when it was either mastered or gone to press, they ran it at 44k not knowing it was recorded at 48k. This is my guess at least.

Sounds like there would be a market for me slapping a vinyl copy on my Numark turntable that goes from -10 to +10 and offering to digitise it at any speed you want!
