Been slowly going through the old boxes under the bed of reggae concerts and sound system tapes, and came upon a tape from 1983, a Jah Love stage show, in total about an hour long, and featuring Fred Locks, Bunny & Melody, and Johnny Osbourne.
Who is/are Bunny & Melody? Or is it Bunny Melody? The MC for the show distinctly says Bunny & Melody when he introduces the set, but I can't find anything online about it being two people, but am seeing some less than hopeful info about a singer named Bunny Melody.
Anyone know?
The shows he/they perform are (as written on the insert, can't vouch for the actual titles):
River Jordan
Got To Be True
Joy in the Morning
Sharon
Their rendition of Joy in the Morning falls a bit flat, as matching the Gaylads' vocal harmony prowess is a tough challenge, but the other three tunes are pretty killer. The first two are tough roots stylings, and the last tune is a wicked slice of rub a dub (nice crowd response!)
Here are the other tunes on the tape....
Fred Locks:
I've Got A Joy
Warning (Shake A Little Devil)
Zion Gate
Johnny Osbourne:
I Love Jah So
Can't Buy My Love
Licky Licky
Nuh Skin Up
Ain't Gonna Break My Promise
Unity (cuts)
Love is Universal

i'd say at a guess that its actually bobby melody - who certainly has released "jah bring i joy in the morning" (joe gibbs) - basically a re-working of the gaylads "joy in the morning". Think he's also repsonsible for atune called "got to be true"

Got To Be True is rather likely Try So Hard (African Museum 12")?

you're right kal, stayed up to figure this thing out and you're right, Got To Be True = Try So Hard. and i was off on one tune, they are indeed singing Jah (instead of You) Bring I Joy In the Morning. That should have been the give away there. and listened between tunes more closely, and the MC actually corrects himself right before Sharon saying Bobby Melody, so it is indeed Mr. Melody! Thanks fellas
