Upon further research, the song in question is 'Caution' from 'The Best Of The Wailers' - the 1970 album. Which wasn't actually a compilation.

I thought that it was 'mother-effer' when I first heard it, but I can also hear how it could be 'mother funky' now that you mentioned it and I was listening for it.
