Please stop selling merchandise and Respect this Reggae Forum

I don`t know if the people who post on this forum advertising the sale of merchandise ever read threads, but if you do.

Please stop advertising the sale of clothing, trainers, handbags etc.

This is a reggae forum and I`m sure I speak for all reggae fans who visit this site that none of us are interested in what you have to sell.

So please respect this fact and stop clogging up the message board with your unwanted posts.

Fed up of it, it's killing the forum for me....

I can't help but wonder if it is a targeted attack from some disgruntled ex poster on the site or something, I just haven't seen a website so inundated with spam before

I'd imagine that it's autogenerated. Happens all over the place. You don't see it so much in other places I suppose because there are more mods (or at least mods who are at their computers several hours a day) on some forums.

The only way to stop it totally would be for the mods to pre-approve all posts - but that would probably kill the forum.

Unless the software could be set to prevent new users from posting links until they'd made at least 20 posts, perhaps?

I have emailed our webdesigner about these forum spam bots. Hopefully it will be solved soon.

unfortunately, spambots have no feelings and i would dare to say, probably don't even like reggae all that much.

it is definitely kind of a ball ache to surf through a bunch of spam, but bots will slip under the wire from time to time on any forum, although our bots on here are quite prolific in their posting.

so, nuh feel it no way Rootsman and Congo.. it's strictly crass commercial robot business and not a thoughtless board member plying thier wares on the forum.

The solution is to make more complex the registration on this forum.
Some spmabots can read the CAPTCHAs code .
As it's a reggae forum,you ask some simple questions about reggae to people who wants to register on the "New member registration" page.

ras g, the link seems to go to a current post, minus bots... maybe they were finally purged by the admins.
