Yes that's right. From One Extreme to Another was on Keith's Joint Int. label and was fairly easy to buy when it came out in 1979. In the early 80s it was re-released as 'The Black Morphologist of Reggae' on Keja.
Also in 79 Joint put out Nuh Skin Up Dub with plain white sleeves and the title stamped on the front (dub companion album to From One Extreme to Another).
I saw one in Virgin at the time but stupidly didn't buy it - and never saw another one.
Fortunately Pressure Sounds reissued Nuh Skin Up Dub (just retitled Nuh Skin Up) a few years ago.

Can anybody tell me what was the real first pressing of PICK A DUB?
RA is listing the issue on Rockers Universite as the earliest one from 1973, while the Atra and Mamba versions both date from 1974.
Is that true?

According to "An Illustrated Discography" (DVD ROM) by Vincent Ellis & Jean Scrivener:
1. Mamba JA & UK 1974
2. Atra UK 1975
3. Rockers Universite UK 1979

Thanks for quick info,
I was almost sure that RA is wrong and the Rockers Universite pressing is not the first one (there is no date on the label or cover).
The Jamaican Mamba pressing says "produced 1974-1975 on the label. The UK Mamba doesn't mention any date, while the Atra label says "produced 1975".

Is it worth buying? I realise i never had a chance to listen to this one. Or may be if you could point out some tracks u like on this LP?

there is a 2002 reedit also by virgin,

if someone has the reedit can they tell me about the mix is it different than the original, is it proper mixing?

Clues in the title, what ever price you pay for this album it's too expensive... I gave my copy away to charity shop years ago, its self indulgent twaddle that barely qualifies as reggae

I bought this record just upon its release and was so disappointed that I gave it away almost instantly to a friend of mine. He liked the title track a lot and so I gave it to him. That title was somehow funny to listen, ok, but the whole record is a terribly commercial disco effort. Completely different thing to milestones like "Pick A Dub", "Entering The Dragon" and all the others.

Once in a while I asked myself, if I was wrong and to give it another try. But reading your above quote I know I don't have to. Seems my memory serves me well.

Wasn't 'Too Expensive' basically a big 'fuck you' from Hudson to the record company? I heard that.

After hearing some of his original ideas, they'd supposedly been interfering with the production and badgering him to make the album 'more funky' and 'more danceable', or something.

So he delivered a pop-disco album to them. The title of 'Too Expensive' being a comment how Virgin had just given him loads of money for this utter crap...

Edit: or this might just have been someone's theory.

ahaha, well thank you all for your comments, i had a feeling that it was not a strong LP after seing so many copies selling for so cheap.

Anyway, its the only LP from keith i dont know yet, i guess it will stay like that for a while.
