Lee Perry in GTA 5

Post by Gabranth »

Any reggae-loving gamers here?

After Rodigan and Bobby Konders, Lee Perry will be the host of a reggae/dub radio station in the upcoming video game GTA 5. The station will be called Blue Ark. I'm very excited. I expect his comments and dialoges to be very entertaining.

Good to see Chronixx in the playlist. Guessing the youth will get some well deserved money out from it.

I must admit I don't know Chronixx (yet). And I'm not sure if he got paid for this. Scientist sure as hell didn't get paid for his tracks being in GTA 3, but that's another topic I guess.

Pretty nice tracklist! I always like the reggae radio stations while playing GTA!

I'm also curious about the way Lee Perry will host the radio station. Should be fun!

Seriously? Am I an old man who doesn't get it, or does it seem weird and distasteful that roots reggae is featured in such a violent and degenerate video game?

@Mick: Well David Rodigan and Stephan Marley are down with this, then you can be too. But please let's not get into this videogames/violence-discussion here, if possible.

I assume that was firmly tongue in cheek

I don't have a problem with the video game per se, I just find it unsavoury that reggae is a part of it. Oh well, nobody's forcing me to play it.

i only know some old gta games, but there you could only listen to music while riding a car, and it was like several radio stations you could choose from.
that´s a kind of cool way to put music into a game, choose your own soundtrack.

you old guys´critisism is right, but on the other hand, the setting for roots music was also a violent city..

i just hope it will make a few people interested in reggae.
