Yes it's very sad news. I am one of the few lucky people who saw him perform live on stage one week ago in Holland. He was performing great and he was looking good and full of energy.

Staged one of the best reggae gigs in my counntry Zimbabwe. Filled the stadium - a 60 000 seater stadium. His show was the second best from Bob Marley's independence live show in 1980 in Zimbabwe.

Just back from the Culture gig in Dublin. As you all know Joseph Hill passed away on the 19th August. His son Afric took his place and sang lead vocals. Strange gig, happy to see Culture live finally after buying my first Culture lp in 1977,Afric told me he wasn't even born then and although the gig was top class an underlying feeling of sadness prevailed.

I saw Culture in Edinburgh twice and met him after one gig- a charismatic but modest man who wrote and sang some great tunes. He and the band were all wearing "Scotland the Brave" T-shirts with the lion rampant on them the second time- I think he liked the connection with "Lion Rock".
