King Tubby Meets Scientist In A Revival Dub?

Post by tjkong »

Another of these questions...

Has anyone heard this or know anything about a release called "King Tubby Meets Scientist In A Revival Dub"? I've just recently run across it in several places online. Seems to be available to download very easily, but I haven't seen a cd or lp version anywhere.

Maybe I'm too jaded about dodgy dub releases that aren't what they claim to be, but what I want to know is if anyone can shed any light on it as far as quality and legitimacy.
What is it, where did it come from, and were either King Tubby or Scientist actually behind the mixes?

Thanks for any help or opinions. Very appreciated.

I have it and I must say it's a pretty good album, real cheap on iTunes too.
I feel the same way as you, getting cheated on dub compilations, but I can't argue with the music on this one.
All the riddims are from Jah Thomas productions. As far as who gets credit for the dubs, it's tough to say, I've heard the exact same dubs on a few other compilations credited to other mixers (e.g. Scientist's japanese dub is the same mix as King Tubby's Explosion Dub from the Trojan Box Set) and a few others as well. Most certainly mixed at King Tubby's.

Regardless, the quality and musical vibes are both excellent. Price is right too.

Should rephrase, not all the tracks were mixed at Tubby's, the rest were at Channel One.

Thanks for the responses, CPM.
It helps to know where the riddims are from. Too bad it isn't as easy to be certain about the details on the mixing.
I do appreciate you sharing your opinion of it. Thanks!

Haven't got this yet but I do have the other Roots Records release of a similar nature:

...and very fine it is too, although it does sound more Channel One than Tubby's. 'In a Revival Dub' is on my shopping list.

@NINJA

Very interesting facts. So are the albums King Tubby & Roots Radics: Dangerous Dub and The Legendary Skatalites in Dub actually Scientist's work?
