i recall listening to him in the early 1980s on the show of the late great John Peel.Lacksley had some lovely roots vocals out, played by John. When Lacksley tragically died...i think maybe shot ..or perhaps a carcrash..John reported it and played some sounds of Lacksley. Thats all i know..Sean

From what I've heard he either died from something stomach related or maybe it was asthma. But none of the sources where sure.

Incredible singer.

Would love to know more about this Negus Roots Documentary. If it does exist that is.

I thought he was shot? Whatever the case, Reggae lost a great singer when Lacksley Died.

Look for the Hugh Mundell album, Jah Fire. Most of it is Lacksley singing.

Excellent singer, had a unique voice. Check out the "Love in Your Heart" 12"(Rockers?)

He died of natural causes (I've heard tuberculosis or stomach illness), I'm pretty sure he didn't die violently.
