The description on the VP website is really unsatisfying. I propose that Vlad buys it and then tells us about it ;-)

It's quite awful. A small number of bearable tracks maybe, but the rest is painfully weak. Just wrong in every possible way. And the second disc is more or less the same as the "Communication" album from -00.

Haven't watched the both DVD's yet, but the first one was a lousy 15 minute interview with him and Lloyd Brevett. It also has Bunny lashing out against Blackwell with a local crowd, demanding he give them money. The second DVD is a live concert from Rome.

Thanks for the info, Mosiah.

That is very sad. Usually these VP 2CD/DVD Boxsets are very good I think. The Sugar Minott, Barrington and Volcano Boxsets were killer imho.

Bunny obviously made some great music in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Haven't heard something nice from him for the last 20 years though. Sad. On last years documentary "Marley" by this Scottish director I enjoyed the Bunny-Interviews very much.

Regardless of Era when Bunny is great he's amazing, pure genius, on fire.... but when he's off form it's usually tragically bad

He's like two different artists sometimes on the same LP

They sure are, Gabranth, but this box is not on VP but on his own label Solomonic (with distribution by Tad's).

Gabranth, I think I will pass :)

I find it bizarre how so many great reggae artists from the "golden era" go so wrong passed the mid 80's'-90's, I mean Soooooo bad. I wonder what would have happened to Bob's music had he made it to today...

Beats me why he does not put out a great deluxe version of Rock & Groove. If masters cant be found, it could still be done with nicely cleaned out and remastered tracks. CD 1 would be the album, CD2 would be the 12" singles that were released at the time and which, if my memory serves me well, showcase the songs in even longer versions, dubs, etc...

There must be some kind of problem, though, because you would have thought the Japanese reissue label (the one that put out so much of his stuff in recent years, cant remember their name) would have done it...
