Mission Impossible by The Viceroys (Interns)

Post by arize_rootsman »

which band u think did a better job on backing the viceroys since there is two versions of this song one by revolutinaries and roots radics ?

i personally think roots radics is all over revolutionaries

The Interns 7" on the Techniques label (?) is my choice. The 2 versions are very different, so it's a matter of choice, I suppose. The Radics one is very sparse & cool, whereas the older version has a lot more going on musically, as was the style of the time I guess.

I prefer the roots radics version, it has additional vocal tunes to it and it's thumps perfectly to my speakers

roddy thats exactly why i chose that version cause right after they sing (oh yeah know) was cut off when they made it as interns and when they were viceroys it was added on so it improved the song. and plus the other version there is too many instruments going on. my opinion. lol

There's even a third version, i think its from far before 1978, i like this one the most. the bass-line on the version on 'inna de yard' is quite the same. bumping.

What about the viceroy's alternate version of "bredren & sistren" on the African Museum Togetherness VA LP? that is just as tough as the Linval production, but still totally different, as it is produced by Gregory Isaacs! That same LP has the viceroys tune Miracle, which is another tough tune by the vocal trio that doesn't get talked about a lot. aDambom

I'm partial to the African Museum all-stars version...Beautiful harmony on the vocals and the riddim is rock solid.
