First at all it's reggae not reaggae
well I think there is some good dancehall and there is some dancehall that I personally don't like.

I am more in to classic roots reggae. There are some people like garnet silk, jah cure and so on that I also like and Everton Blender but I don't like Vybz Kartel, TOK...that is not my kind of music I like to hear

Re: "step on chichi man"???!!!!!
for me reggae music is about peace, love of Jah and love of your bredrin and sistrin.
It should never feature aggressive or boasting vocals in the horrible style of rap music.
Sure, chanting down Babylon, fight the downpressers and generally revolutionary stuff is cool...
...but the "my bank balance, wheels and d*ck are the biggest in the 'hood" vibe that is the feature of so-called urban music nowadays just sucks.

Exactly my opinion too leggo rocker, we have to call it "reggae" for the rythm but it cant be ROOTS reggae, they are very different persons and i dont like them, the bobo ashanti's too.
Hatous people TRY singing reggae but will never win it.

Sizzla and the singers with same new style, they sing often "burn dem" about the gays, they sing often about killing white people etc etc, not them all but lot of them sing it, for Sizzla i dont know really...
I have a white friend who was so horrified than he had quit a live of one of them! (cant remember the band or the "artist")

So Sizzla he think because I am white I want to slave him, or slave my black bredrin, or I can't listen to reggae music, or I can't love Jah coz I am white?
That's not rasta, that's babylon...
I ask him, and others like him, to read the words of H.I.M as sung by (among others) Bob Marley on the brilliant and true roots tune 'War'
read...

I listen to this song, and I think, "yeah, that is real wisdom".
If the entire world could realise, and actually live by, the philosophy of these words, first spoken by H.I.M then the world really would be at peace.

Re: "step on chichi man"???!!!!!
yeh im with u leggo rocker, theres so much badness/slackness in todays so called reggae, what are they doing!!! they have something so special on that island yet the best roots these days doesn't come from JA, whats the last decent roots band u know from JA???? any??
I'm definatley old school roots+dub, there is/was a big argument about the new style of reggae late 80's early 90's i think and all the old artists spoke out against the new artists music and said it was bad, i can remeber burning spear i think, gregory isaacs and a few others don't quote me on the names but think it was them, they all stood up on stage and spoke about this but got stuff thrown at them!
JA has something so special but it has been turned into something not so special, these dyas u get copycats, all the new songs come from old riddims from the day just adding new words, whats the point in that, alot of the older artists don't like speaking out about it because obviously they would get hassle, such a shame tho, very sad to me whats happened there. It seems Europe are now the leading force in roots reggae and the uk, im just glad that we are keeping it going aswell as some other countries obviously. I really hope the Jamaica goes back to there roots when it comes to reggae. Something positive seems to be turning negative when they had it so good, everything was set up by bob marley and the rest of them, music does move with the times but i think it moved the wrong way in my opinion! alot of the new rasta artists are bobo Dreads but in the day lots of the roots artists where bobos so why it's gone the way it has i don't know. Personally i do live some of the newer artists but not many, what i don't like is shouting and not singing, that shouting gets me down and it has such an aggressive vibe to it, but yeh u can have an aggressive sorta vibe with militant rockers/steppas but that vibe was different, the sort of aggressive vibe u hear today is not a nice vibe, thats what i feel anyway.
But Roots Reggae will always live on no matter what country, the founders will always be remembered and thanked for what they gave us.
JAH LOVES.....
This is just my personal opinion and don;t wanna get into a war with dancehall artists hear, peaceful discussion is fine, but these threads always seem to turn sour!

Yes theres some bad ones ,but to say todays reggae is full of badness is way off target. In fact its the other way around. And low and behold there some roots music that makes whites and gays targets.
