Yes, a new update for Roots Archives is in the air. What many of us would not expect to happen anymore will be realised in the near future.
Seb and Mat are working on moving this (almost outdated) forum to a new one; one with more options for both visitors as mods.

More importantly, an update will be made to RA's database, which will probably happen in several smaller updates. As we all know the last update was in 2008, just over 5 years ago, so you can imagine a lot of records will have to be added.

RA is working on an interface, so that registered users can update and add records themselves, which will be a major change for the website.

Bare with us though, these changes will not be overnight. It wall all take time to implement all these changes. In the mean time, this thread is open to discussion:
- what changes would you like to see to this website (either forum or dbase)?

Any suggestion is welcome, however we can't promise that any of your suggestions will be used on the updated version of RA.

Obviously 'getting rid of all the spam on the forum' will be a major issue, so we don't really need to discuss that matter.

Personally, I must say, I feel quite excited and can't wait to discuss all this with Seb and Mat. Hopefully this update will give the website and the forum a positive boost with many (returning) visitors

Great news, I'm so happy to see the owners taking an interest in the site again. This site is my home page, there is barley a day goes by that I don't use this site to look something up! So I'm really happy to hear about these positive new changes!

The only feature that I can think of that would be good would some kind of feature that allowed people to point out where records were bogus or questionable in terms of the credits for example our good friends at Jamaican Records/Kingston Sounds who say "Lee perry and Augustus Pablo" when they should say Bunny Lee and some bloke in his garage re-mixing etc

User Comments for every album could be an option.

I must say, Discogs has quite a good system when it comes to adding and editing items. Pretty strict rules, I'd say.
I would vote for some of their rules to be used here on RA as well.

Wow, I didn't see that coming! Great news.
Though some forum-users moved on and others were less active in recent times I think RA has still a solid base of dedicated people who are willing to invest some of their time to keep this site going. It surely has been a great source of information and inspiration to me and I'm thankful to the admins, mods and users for that.
I'll think about some suggestions now, hip hip hooray to RA!

Great news! I love the idea about album comments!! The ability to add content is great too. Maybe we could add singles? Though that sounds like a mad proposition, I guess.
One request: please no black background like the B&F board!!!
I prefer this board at least partially because I don't suffer temporary blindness after reading it.

The website will get a little make-over, but nothing too extreme I hope. Although personally I think it can a bit of colour here and there.

The 7/12 inch option will be there as well, although I'm not sure if that will be with the first update though.

A few more changes are to come, but I will keep them for myself now. I hope they will surprise you in a good way.

I'm all for adding more color or whatever, but I think it's a good rule that at least the text is darker than the background rather than the reverse. White text on black background is just bad.
