Hi,
Back in the eighties I bought this album in the record store, which I submitted at Discogs
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Showcase ... se/5206800
It's a great and also very rare showcase album, without picture sleeve, probably released late 70s, early 80s. After all these years I still don't know who is the singer "Jah Pardy". Is it a nickname/ANV ?
Some tracks are credited to Jah Yabby U, but I don't think it's Yabby U performing.
Does anybody own this one too, and/or got some more info. ?

I have it too, seen it twice in m life only. Early 80's I would say 82. Prince Lincoln riddims, real nice. Doesnt stick with Prince Lincoln's vocals, but love deep the dubs, great organ shuffle. The sax is a bit off sometimes... Yabby U must be a UK DJ, but Im not sure.

Well, just looking at the label, Jah Mel seems to be behind.

Leon Leiffer of the Black Stones was a member of a group called Mighty Soul Rebels. I have no clue if it's the same outfit but it would make sense with the UK connection.
I have a hard time thinking Jah Mel would have anything to do with it since he was primarily a US based singer.
A very interesting release. Seen it once but there was no listening and it was in pretty bad nick so I didn't bother picking it up.

To me, it doesnt sound like other 3 releases I know on the label with the Soul Rebels but it could be a matter of years, this one is the only one of the early dancehall period I know. You must be right for Jah Mel, but a Jah Mel is credited on flip.

Hi, thanx for all replies.
SteveT, you're right. I've just checked Bim Sherman's 12" Happiness. It's the same DJ voice : Yabby Youth.
So, one mystery solved. I'm still curious if anybody have some more info. on the artist (singer) Jah Pardy. Maybe later on I will add his song to YouTube (after I have find out how).
