now last few questions:
did duke reid actually own a studio?.. if yes did he own it from start?
studio one, was that the main studio? or did they record only vocals?
what studio did caltone use?

could someone line up all studios striker lee was active at?

I need some insight on dynamic studio I never really know nothing about it I only know of byron lee was the owner

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I was wondering which Jamaican Gold CD these notes came from. I put together this collection of photos from Jamaican studios ( http://www.pinterest.com/lordmihran/reggae-studios/ ) and am looking for details about Dynamics' relationship with MCI.

The Jamaican Gold Cd is " From The Dynamic Treasury - 16 Rocksteady , Pop 'n' Funk Hits -Vol.2 ". The tracks on the disc were recorded from 1967-1968 at " W.I.R.L Studios , 13 Bell Road , Kingston , Jamaica . "

Trev is on the money with his analysis. Just to add that Simmer Down is ska. In fact the Skatalites backed quite a lot of the Wailing Wailers early material.
