"Play On Mr. Music" on 10" single

The response is pretty much all in the audio commentary Jeremy Marre did for the Digital Classics release : shot with a 16 mm camera, with a small crew, he used quite all the footage he made. He explains notably how he used different views to make the recording process visible, to recreate it with the editing, that means he did not shot the whole thing, but parts of the rehearsal, parts of the singing, and parts in the mixing booth.
In the end Scratch gave him the finished tape of the recording session.
The 10" matches exactly the audio of the finished song on the Digital Classics DVD.

A VERY welcome addition to my Perry collection...which finally arrived.
Great music and pressing!

Can´t hear any difference in the mix of Dread Lion, though...
I think it´s the same as on the Dutch Black Art 12", also credited to King Scratch.
This was, supposedly, an alternate mix.
Anyone detect a difference to the regular album mix?

As someone else already mentioned on another forum, "that different mix [of Dread Lion] has an echo layer less than the Super Ape version". As a result, it sounds a bit clearer and rawer.
It's the same mix as on Black Art/Black Star Liner 12" (NL), with exactly the same credit (King Scratch).

It IS sounding clearer/crisper and not as "muddy"...
Also it seems to be the same as on the Jamaican Scratch The Super Ape album, re-released on Ape-ology.

It's a great record, but I'm completely puzzled over the label artwork. Why use a mock up of an EMI test pressing instead of making it a Black Art or Upsetters "Disco Music" or something like that?

Yes, it would have looked better with some label like that.

The Emidisc is not totally taken out of the blue, though, it seems:
On page 163 in Jeremy Collingwood´s discography book Kiss Me Neck, there are two pics of this same Emidisc label (testpressings, I think). Both are by Heptones, one has They Say (maybe I Shall Be Released?), the other Mr President Vocal - both in handwriting.
