I've also been looking for information about Jah Big for more than one year and the truth that It's difficult to find it, but one year ago I found a fan page from him on facebook where you can get some of information about him. In this fan page say that Jah Big's localidad natal is Richmond, VA/ San Francisco CA. Certainly I've also got his album "Music So Hot" as many of you.

Biography
a reggae vocalist from Richmond VA who lived and performed in San Francisco and California venues throughout the eighties. he released one album produced by Vince Black in 1986 and finished & mixed @ the legendary Channel 1 studios in Jamaica called "Music So Hot". it features right arm man Vince Black on guitars and other instruments, and brother Hamu Yaropa handling drum and percussive chores. Big faced weight struggles throughout his life and passed on at the age of 34 in San Francisco in April of 1989. he was a beloved entertainer in the Bay Area and performed w/ many well known reggae performers live. of the more well known bands he fronted in SF were Stepping Razor, Lambsbread, and Blak Star.

Jah Big! Wow, i used to have some compilation vinyl with an awesome song of him on it back in the days. Gonna search tomorrow if i still have it

I knew Jah Big personally, and saw him perform many times around the San Francisco Bay Area. His real name was Randy, and his heart and kindness, were as big as he was. i miss him to this day.

I just picked up his vinyl from a collector I know 10$

It's pretty killer for an American making Caribbean music.

I read enjoy it. He has a photo of his daughter Isis on the sleeve.
A song dedicated to her too

Yeah I've only heard a few tracks but all sound great. Another artist the world should hear.
