I suppose it's not the fault of the band, but as soon as I hear any lyrics about "cocky and fu*king" from Scratch, my interest level goes way down!

You took the words right out of my mouth Mick!
I mean, I respect the man, and it's funny once, at a live concert. But that's as far as it goes for me.
Seems to me he's just taking the piss (pardon the pun) with whoever he is 'collaborating' with or just a temporary lack of inspiration.

Looking at the huge amount of songs on Amazon that feature LSP I wonder if since he appears to be collaborating with everyone, I wonder if he only gives good performances to those artists who he really admires.

But then that comes from some who thinks he's done little of value since he torched the Black Ark. There have been some good collaborations like my secret laboratory and the I am a Madman I forget what that LP was called.

But mostly after I'm over the initial gimmick of his talking rubbish then these releases leave me cold. I can't listen to hours of that gibberish

Lee Perry is only as good as whoever he's working with. I think there are a lot of releases where Scratch has ranted a lot of mumbo jumbo into a microphone and people are so excited to be working with him, they think it's brilliant, and quality control goes out the window. Personally, I wouldn't settle for "Jesus Christ is my cock, so let's rock" as a producer; I would want to work with Scratch and write some proper songs.

He was a brilliant producer and a gifted mixer in the past.
He is not a talented songwriter. His voice wasn't made for singing. Sometimes he sounds like an old bucket.

Lee Perry is reggae's answer to Steven Seagal.

**NOOOOO!** Back On The Controls is, quite simply, stunning. Even those who have become jaded with Scratch's modern music need to hear this - it's really something special. Scratch's vocals are focused and quite dread, and the music is phenomenal. Just as good if not better than his work with Adrian Sherwood. It's an amazing album.
