About the bible thing, i think people sometimes take what the bible says to seriously, as someone else said most of the bible is written metaphorically, and one line in the bible cannot justify being predjudice or violent towards others, using this as an excuse is ridiculous, RastafarI is supposed to stand for Peace+Love, love ones brother, and i too don't think that humans will become exstinct if we all turn gay!! Some of the burn the lyrics at dances/clashes gets the audiences into a frenzy and the people follow like sheep(which is well known if u know about psychology) so i think it is a dangerous thing thats going on, yeh they are only lyrics at the end of the day and where told not to take them seriously and thats ok but when u have kids idolizing the artists who say these things they take everything literally, and it's spreading some real prejudices around which is the opposite of what reggae was originally about in my opinion, maybe this is the new voice of reggae but i don't call the new stuff reggae it's dancehall to me. I think anything that promotes violence or racism etc. has got to be a bad thing no matter what the context of it. Lyrics like Burn babylon, down with the oppressors are acceptable in my eyes as it was a fight against a system and not a person, when u start bringing a war upon a minority group(Burn the batty man) then this causes trouble + war, thats what i don't like about some of todays dancehall artists, the riddim and beat i have nothing against and i am a big fan of dancehall music, mainly 80's+early 90's dancehall but them bad lyrics just gotta go, there should be no room for hatred against others, love +unity is what we should be preaching. I think what gets to me is the fact it's giving the word reggae a bad name, i've always been a huge reggae fan and always will be but to have these bad lyrics come in and taint the name of reggae is annoying, this is not reggae, this is slackness and i don't wanna be associated with it. That line from haile Selassies's speech that someone quoted a few threads back has real meaning when it comes to this subject, lets listen to his Majesty and stop this hatred for others.....

if you think his majesty likes gays your mistaken, or any of the singers before, they just don't talk about it because it was a more common viewpoint, now gays are more accepted in society and are more populous, if there were so many gays around back in the day everyone would have talked about it, bunny wailer never mentioned them before but now he is very open that you can not live a proper life if you are a homosexual, music changes as times change.

The bit about u said the old artists didn't speak out about it, i was refering to dancehall music and not the gay thing.
I don;t for one minute think that his Majesty liked gays but i can tell you that his majesty is against hatred and prejudice as stated in his speech, so i find there is a contradiction between whats going on calling out names like burn the batty man by so called rasta artists but then his majesty makes it clear that this kind of behaviour is not right, and he may or may not also say that gays are also a bad thing, i don;t argue that, it's ok for people to not like something we all got that right, i just see contradiction with rasta artists preeching these lyrics as it is a prejudice and it does lead to hatred and violence which is bad "burn them", "kill them", these lyrics to me come across as spreading hatred and promoting prejudices and violence, unless im misinterpreting what there saying. The bit in the bible which says no man sleep with another it taken so seriously so why not the bits that say love your brother/neighbour as yourself, how can there be different rules for different bits of the bible, how can someone who loves there neighbour as thyself go and say "burn dem batty man"?, whos word do u take, the bibles or his Majesty's, or looks to me like they take the bits they wanna take to suit there own beliefs. Thats what gets to me when i see this contradiction, plus the hatred thats gettin spread. We don;t need hate in this world, love, unity+education is what we need.
