Re: Dambala
hi
i totally agree that dambala was one of the best reggae outfits from uk and yet one of the most unsung heroes, but i believe that gus anyia personal project(dambala)is nowhere near the singles the group produced as a collective.so i rebelieve out of sheer honesty that"azania"cannot really represents dambala
this my opinion and iam the only liable for what i say

Re: Dambala
Hi Guys,
Once again I am really flattered and very proud to have been an original member of Dambala, we did try to be different, it wasn't that easy in those times to play Reggae music that was a little different, but I thank everyone here for their remarks and feel that if we brought some light into peoples lives then we were a "success".
We knew merger very well and allowed them to rehearse in our rehearsal room many times, I personally did many gigs as sound engineer for Mereger in clubs like the 100 club in Oxford st, and other places, in fact when Merger played at the 100 club we were visited by Bob Dylan who was looking for a Reggae band to appear on his show at BlackBush, Merger happened to be the only Reggae band playing live on that day, so they got the gig along with Joan Armatrading. I liked Merger a lot, we always used to borrow their electric piano as Thomas, our keyboard player never had his own piano, such times will always live in my heart...peace and love to all...
