Clocktower pressings

Post by GanjaSquirrel »

Hi all

New to the forum so hope this hasn't been covered before!
I'm sure like many, given the choice, we'd all like to own original release pressings but getting good condition copies can be difficult and pricey.
Am thus considering trying some of the recent Clocktower re issues.
How do people rate them?
Cheers

Not very good at all. Fortunately most of the originals can still be found for reasonable prices—between 15-30 USD in top shape. A few of the dub LPs will go for a bit more but even those not always. I was extremely pleased to buy an unplayed original of The Sound Of Macka Dub Vol. 1 for $15 just a month ago for instance. Made my day to say the least.

I disagree - all of the Clocktower represses I have (7" singles) have been great.

I should have mentioned I was only referring to Clocktowers repress LPs. I haven't heard any reissued 7" or 12". The LPs are not the worst presses I've heard nor are they great. It's easily worth paying five dollars more to hear a great LP like "Six Babylon" in noticeably higher quality on the original press.

OK, thanks for the input, think I'll hold out for original pressings whenever possible
